in Acoustics Noise and Vibration
were retained as noise and vibration consultants on the redevelopment of the
National Physical Laboratory at Teddington. The home of the UK's standards for
all physical measurements. The five year project consisted of relocation of
over 200 noise and vibration critical laboratories from a dispersed campus to
one purpose built facility. The project included analysis of the structural
dynamics of the building to assess footfall vibration, affecting ultra sensitive
measuring equipment, and the specification of mechanical services noise and
vibration control equipment to meet stringent criteria.

vibration from the demolition of a multi storey car park at the rear of Norwich
City Hall was seen as a potential threat to the structure of the building.
NVP were retained to monitor structural vibration levels over the period of
the demolition contract. Multiple vibration measurement points were established
throughout the building structure and these were monitored using a central
of an Air Ambulance helicopter to a local airfield prompted opposition from
nearby residents who were concerned about noise from overflights. NVP conducted
an extensive survey of noise levels in the vicinity of the airfield and prepared
an environmental impact assessment to support a planning application.
